SEO or PPC? Which is Better?

In the field of Online Marketing, SEO, SEM, DEO whatever you want to call it, there are simply just too many fields to be playing in to simply say SEO or PPC. The question in itself is far too narrow. In most cases you should have both and some give the 80/20 rule as example. Spend 80% on PPC and 20% on SEO. The scope that any viable businesses need to be in on the net in today’s internet market is massive.

You have: On Page SEO, Off Page SEO, Social Bookmarking, Social Network Marketing, Online Branding and Affiliates, not to mention the ever crucial use of blogs and RSS and conversion forms to give ample ROI through viable contact... and I haven't even mentioned PPC at all yet. All this together is the true key to website success. I have worked on my fair share of OPM (Online Presence Management) projects with stellar results and happy customers around every corner.

This minuscule mindset of "which is better" has to go. It is no longer a "one shot kill" scenario, you need to cover every part of your online presence now. The rise of faster indexing, faster content indexing and the rise of new technology (ie; google goggles) is changing the face of online persona. Not to mention the addition of decision engines being adopted into Bing and Google. The face of the internet is not static, it is always changing. The ways of the past in traditional SEO are quickly becoming obsolete. You now need to stay on top or get off the web altogether, because if you don't stay on top it won't make a difference if you are on the web or not.

Q: So, SEO or PPC?
A: Both... and more.
